Where the Legacy Began
We are honored to recognize the first recipient of training from Sista Joy, Deron Scott. His story represents the beginning of her commitment to teaching practical skills, empowering others, and creating opportunities that could last a lifetime.
In His Own Words
I started training as a tailor in the year 1996 in Summerfield. However, I had to stop training as the gentleman whom I was been taught by was not always there as not much was really happening in that profession at the time. As a result of all that I was home for a while. In 1998 my mother told me that missionary Joyce Francis was going to start sewing (dressmaking) at her house and ask me if I was interested. I readily took up the offer and today I’m glad I did as sista joy had taught me so much which had made me so proud today. She has helped me financially and even widened my knowledge in regards to various styles. it has also helped me to be patient personally. Sister joy was my mentor, a mother , a friend, a no-nonsense person and an educator. Associating with her meant so much to me until today I still use the machine she gave me. May her blessed soul continue to rest in perfect peace.
